Vvidget Builder User Manual
Support > About This Manual
People learn in many different ways. Some learn using reference guides, some anecdotally, and some through "on the job training". Vvidget Builder attempts to implement the "on the job training" model as much as possible. For example, the Cursor Information Panel attempts to give you an indication of what is going on and the palettes give access to preconfigured "packets of knowledge". However, there is no way to augment an application with enough aides to render a manual unnecessary. Indeed, any good manual is also a good book guiding users through coherent information in an enjoyable way. So a manual can be an interesting thing to read on its own and can expose readers to new concepts and new ways of doing things. Hopefully all readers appreciate that.
In order to make this manual more enjoyable we have added lots of figures, examples and kernels of ideas from which we hope you can start from and then create your own unique pieces of work. We have also added sections which attempt to show how Vvidget Builder is only a small tool in a larger setting. The idea is to taunt the user into achieving something greater, or at least in recognizing that something greater exists. Many sections have information presented in different ways or context but are otherwise redundant. It is hoped that the reader finds this format useful.
Indeed, Vvidget Builder itself has been made as an idea tool, not a graphing application. It does not say "Give me data and I give you graph, ugh". It says: "Think of what you want and I hope I can help you make it". So, experiment with it, read some of this manual and most of all please enjoy it as much as possible.
We hope you enjoy this manual and the information it provides. If you feel it can be improved in some way, not necessarily just by adding a tidbit of information, but by changing its style and direction, then please let us know.
